IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System). IVR is like a complex answering machine with more than one pre-recorded announcements and with ability to recognize and respond to DTMF key presses of human voice.|||IVR stands for Interactive Voice Response.
Think of it as the gatekeeper, the person who screens people coming in through the telephone lines.
It's not a real person, obviously.
But because it is automated, it is now no longer limited to routing callers to the right departments.
Most IVRs today can offer basic troubleshooting steps, check databases, etc.
