I want to ask a boy to homecoming....?

I like him. alot. ivr known him for a while now, and hes a sophmore and im a freshman, and we have a class together. i know hes going to homecoming. myfriend wants me to ask him tothedance, but im just scared of rejection and i dont want him saying no to make our friendship akward. my friend offered to ask him for me, or to see if he liked me. what should i do?|||Just ask him. You can't go through life being afraid that something might happen when there is a chance it might not happen at all.
